A Little Bit About Me...

My name is Rachel Cuesta. I am 26 years old and one of my biggest passions is running. I started about 3 years ago as a way to get into better shape and it only took one 5K to change my life. The thrill you feel after completing your first, second, or even hundredth race is an indescribable feeling. You feel on top of the world and are left wanting more. After a dozen or so 5K's, I moved onto 8 and 10K's and finally a half marathon. My goal is to run a full marathon by 2015!!

Not only do I enjoy running in the races, but I have found that I have another passion for being behind the scenes and directing them as well. I organized and directed the first St. Jude 5K in 2010, the second in 2012 and it's time yet again for another! This race has been successful each year with the runner/walker turnout almost doubling from one year to the next. I have received a lot of positive feedback and I plan to make this year's event our best and biggest one yet; I know we can reach 1,000 participants!! 

St. Jude Children's Hospital has always been one of my favorite charities. The fact that they accept every sick patient, and take care of their families as well is absolutely amazing. Their doors remain open because of the millions of dollars they raise in donations every year; donations from people like YOU. 2010's race brought in $10,000 and grew to another $15,000 in 2012.  I am setting a personal goal of $20,000 this year and I am confident that with the right amount of support, that goal will be reached. Any personal or corporate donations, whether they be monetary or gift-based, are extremely helpful to making this event a success.
